A nut-beetle was a small insect often eaten as a snack. Its shiny outer shell could be split to reach the soft, juicy meat inside. Nut-beetles were eaten alive, with the inedible portions usually spat out into a wastebasket.

Imperial Supervisor Gurdun was known to enjoy nut-beetles.
