Niian was a tropical planet[2] of the Niian system, located within the Thaere sector, in the Expansion Region of the galaxy.[1] In 0 BBY,[3] the smuggler Dannen Lifehold was on the planet doing an errand for his mentor, another smuggler named Twolz. While Lifehold was on the errand, Twolz and his crew were killed by stormtroopers, the elite soldiers of the Galactic Empire.[2]
Behind the scenes
Niian's was mentioned in the short story "Breaking Free: The Adventures of Dannen Lifehold," written by Dave Marron and published in February 1994 within the first issue of the Star Wars Adventure Journal.[2] The Star Wars: The Essential Atlas Online Companion placed the Niian system, and therefore Niian, in grid square O-14.[1]
