The New Republic Department of Research and Development (also known as New Republic Research and Development and previously known as Rebel Alliance Research and Development) was a department of the New Republic responsible for developing technology for use by the New Republic.
One of their main functions was the design and manufacture of useful droids for the use of Alliance Intelligence/New Republic Intelligence and the Alliance Military/New Republic Defense Force.
