Military scrip, also called simply scrip or Imperial scrip, was currency issued to members of the Imperial Military. It was an accepted medium of exchange throughout the Galactic Empire, and there were harsh punishments for not accepting Imperial currency, whether or not the credit was considered a good risk. It was interchangeable with credits for a small fee.
Scrip was not accepted outside as valid currency outside of the Empire, whose influence had waned greatly in the time of the New Republic. Furthermore, there was no official rate of exchange, but unofficially there was a five to four Empire/Republic conversion rate, or five to three depending on whom you talked with.[1]
