Merel sector

The Merel sector was located in the Outer Rim Territories. By 0 ABY, it bordered the Lol sector Coreward, the Samix sector Rimward, and the Skine sector in the trailing direction. The Nedij system of the Samix sector was located very close to the Merel-Samix border.

The Ragnar system was situated in the Merel sector, and the former contained the remote astronomical object Ragnar VIII. The home offices of the Ragnar Syndicate, a chapter house of the Bounty Hunters' Guild, were located on Ragnar VIII, leading to the celestial body being considered the homeworld of the house.

During the reign of the Galactic Empire, the Merel sector was governed by Imperial Moff Tregar, who often employed the Ragnar Syndicate for missions unfit for the Imperial Military. During the Galactic Civil War, the Rebel Alliance carried out operations in the sector.

Behind the scenes

The Merel sector was first mentioned in Galaxy Guide 9: Fragments from the Rim, a 1993 sourcebook written by Simon Smith and Eric S. Trautmann for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. In 2012, the sector was depicted on a map designed by Modi and published in The Essential Atlas Extra: Outer Rim Sectors, a feature of the StarWars.com Online Companion to the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas.
