"I am remembering something I accessed earlier. The chief designer of the Ma'aood funerary temples directed his draftsmen that all obvious passages should be booby-trapped, and all traps should be made as inviting as possible."
―Lobot[1]

The Ma'aood were beings who built wondrous temples.[2] The chief designer of these funerary temples ensured that all obvious passages were filled with traps that appeared inviting to beings that entered the temples. The cyborg Lobot was familiar with this Ma'aood practice.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Ma'aood were created by Michael P. Kube-McDowell for his novel Shield of Lies, published by Del Rey in 1996. They also received an entry in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia,[2] published in 2008. In both of these publications it is unclear whether the Ma'aood are a species, culture or other type of organization.[1][2]
