A loudhailer, or loud-hailer, was a device used to magnify a person's voice to higher levels so that they could speak to a crowd or project their voice across large distances. It had a pistol grip to better allow users to hold it.
History
During the Battle of Herdessa, Dark Lady Lumiya used a loudhailer to announce to the citizens of the planet Herdessa that she was going to kill her prisoners unless Princess Leia Organa was turned over to her.
The Galactic Alliance Guard used loudhailers to coordinate their operations on Coruscant during the Second Galactic Civil War.
