Life-crystal trees, from which life-crystals were harvested, grew on the planet Rafa V. Life-crystals were believed to extend life and provide good health. In actuality, a high concentration of life-crystals served only to sap intelligence. In 4 BBY, Lando Calrissian was tied to a life-crystal tree and left to die by the Rafan natives, known as the Toka people.
