"It worked fine when you tested it initially. Synthetic?"
"Kubaz xurkonia. The crystalline latice handled the energy while we tested it, but it was probably ready to go down anytime."
―Elegos A'Kla and Corran Horn[1]

Kubaz xirkonia was a type of mineral that was used in the creation of fake diamonds.

Corran Horn used a kubaz xirkonia gemstone during the construction of his dual-phase lightsaber, although at the time he believed it was a diamond. Although the gem held up during testing, it burned out a short time later during a confrontation with Shala the Hutt. Corran later replaced it with a real diamond.

Behind the scenes

The name is spelled "xirkonia" in Star Wars: Mara Jade – By the Emperor's Hand and "xurkonia" in I, Jedi. Both sources were authored by Michael A. Stackpole.
