Karavis system

The Karavis system was located in the Obtrexta sector,[1] a part of the New Territories portion of[2] the Outer Rim Territories.[1]

During the Galactic Civil War, the remote Karavis system contained a Kuat Drive Yards starship assembly line controlled by the Galactic Empire. The assembly line was used to construct the prototype Dragon-class Heavy Cruiser Galaxy Dragon.[3]

In 4 ABY,[4] while the military of the Empire made preparations to entrap the fleet of the Rebel Alliance in a confrontation in the Endor system[3] of the Zuma sector,[1] Imperial Moff Delurin oversaw a final test run of the Galaxy Dragon. As part of the test, the heavy cruiser traveled from the Karavis system to the planet Miko in the Sorella system[3] of the Colonies[1] and subjected it to an orbital bombardment as retaliation for the planet's inhabitants, the Mikoans, refusing to submit to Imperial governance.[3]

Behind the scenes

The Karavis system was first mentioned in "The Galaxy Dragon and crew," an article written by Bill Slavicsek as a supplement for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game and published in Dragon Magazine 200 in December 1993. Since the article was released outside of the Lucas Licensing process, its canonicity within the Star Wars Legends continuity was never confirmed.[3] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Karavis system in grid square K-4.[2]
