Kalibac Industries (KI) was a small, cutting-edge droid manufacturing firm based on the planets Coruscant and Procopia. A former member of the Techno Union, the firm never found much popularity on the galactic droid market. And several legal battles with its competitor, Cybot Galactica had left Kalibac on a very weakened state by the time of the Galactic Civil War. Their droid models, however, were superior to norm and were often copied by outlaw techs to produce faulty and cheap imitations.
Behind the scenes
The logo of Kalibac Industries shown in The New Essential Guide to Droids[1] uses the letters "K" and I" of the Geonosian alphabet developed by Philip Metschan for Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones.[4]
