The Juniper Chest was a sacred item to the Gupins of the Forest Moon of Endor. The decorated chest provided energy and power to the Gupins, which allowed them to shapeshift. The chest was the focal point of the Gupin Renewal Ceremony, during which the Gupins used a sacred key to open the chest and rejuvenated their powers.[1]
Eventually, the Gupins' rivals, the Grass Trekkers, were given the key by the Gupin Punt.[1] In 3 ABY,[2] The Gupins secured the aid of the Ewoks of Bright Tree Village to reclaim the key and restore their powers.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Juniper Chest first appeared in "The Land of the Gupins,"[1] the eighth episode of the animated television series Ewoks. The episode was written by Bob Carrau and premiered on October 26, 1985.[3]
