A joysmasher was a member of a criminal gang whose sole intent was to hotwire the speeders of the wealthy and steal them. They would then ride around in them before smashing them in barriers and energy pylons for fun. World Devastator Calibration Engineer Deppo was a joysmasher in his childhood on Eriadu.
