Jacc Mandelbrot

Jacc Mandelbrot was a man who operated the Royal Casino in Cloud City, on the planet of Bespin.

Biography

Jacc Mandelbrot started his career by working in the textile industry in the Kathol sector. Using the money he earned, Mandelbrot put himself through university and then went on to found several business while in his early twenties. Each business was sold for a large profit. While on a business trip to Cloud City with a client, Mandelbrot decided to move there and sold all his holdings in the Kathol sector. Buying a small bar and gambling establishment known as Lucky's Tavern, Mandelbrot purchased the office space next door and remodeled the place. A month later, the Royal Casino opened.

By the time of the early years of the Galactic Empire, Mandelbrot was in his forties and had owned the casino for a number of decades. In about 17 BBY, Mandelbrot hired a group of undercover Alderaanian Resistance agents to provide security at the casino during the Cloud City Sabacc Tournament.

By the time of the Galactic Civil War, Mandelbrot was in his fifties. Over the years, he had brought on silent partners to clear business obstacles or create peace with various criminal and Imperial interests. Baron Administrator Lando Calrissian also held a stake in the establishment.

Behind the scenes

• Jacc Mandelbrot was identified as both "Jacc Maldelbrot" and "Jacc Mandelbrot" in the second edition of Galaxy Guide 2: Yavin and Bespin. The Queen of Air and Darkness used the latter spelling exclusively. This article assumes that the latter spelling is the correct one.
