The mother of Jaalib Brandl was a resident of Kovit on Trulalis during the Imperial Period. In 5 BBY, after Jaalib's father, Adalric Cessius Brandl had visited the planet while on the run from High Inquisitor Antinnis Tremayne, Jaalib's mother was killed defending her son from a stormtrooper raid.
