Intellex IV/Legends
- "The fact many astromech droids carry the Intellex IV certainly was a great asset to Alliance operations in the Periphery some time ago: our agent Shaparo was able to take the unit from his companion, R2-Q8, and analyze the prisoner files at the Dnalvec garrison on Sriluur."
- ―General Airen Cracken
The Intellex IV was a droid computer and analysis program package.[2] It was part of the Intellex series designed and manufactured by Industrial Automaton. The Intellex IV was used in Industrial Automaton's astromech droids, such as the R2-series astromech droid and the V1 pilot droid.[2]
A design trademarked by Industrial Automaton, the Intellex IV was capable of performing over 10,000 MPF operations a second.[1] The computer held an internal starship configuration database that contained seven hundred different vessel designs.[3] The Intellex IV scanned technical files in the internal computer to determine potential problems, scan data parameters, or debug computer code.[1] The Intellex IV also supported sophisicated analysis programming that allowed for lifeform identification subroutines and other low-level sensor operations.[2] Information gathered from a droid's sensorscope was fed into the Intellex IV.[4]
Intellex IVs could be removed from the droids and used independently. When utilized in that manner, the computer could be used to enter restricted-access files and slice into security systems.[2]
During the Galactic Civil War, Alliance to Restore the Republic agent Shaparo used the Intellex IV from his astromech droid, R2-Q8, to analyze the prisoner files from the Dnalvec garrison on the planet Sriluur. The information gained allowed the Alliance to rescue captured operatives.[2]
