Information brokers, also known as informants, were private consultants, smugglers, or slicers that provided information and intelligence for credits. In the galaxy, they were sometimes referred to as code dealers, infochants, or sluicers.
History
Kyle Katarn came to Nar Shaddaa to receive information about the death of his father from the information broker droid 8t88, although he ended up being betrayed by the droid. R2-D2 and Chewbacca attempted to receive information from an information broker on Nar Shaddaa concerning the Darksaber project, Durga the Hutt and Daala's mysterious Imperial fleet. The Assembler known as Balancesheet was an infochant, as well as his predecessor and creator, Kud'ar Mub'at. Talon Karrde was a well known information broker who assisted the New Republic during the Thrawn campaign and the Yuuzhan Vong War.
