The Imperial Department of Resources,[2] also known as Imperial Mining,[3] was a bureau within the Imperial government. It supervised the development and/or exploitation of star systems, usually for the purposes of mineral extraction and colonization.[1] A represtative of the Imperial Department of Resources, Captain-Supervisor Grammel[2] was commander of the Imperial Military garrison[2] and energy mining operation[4] on the planet Mimban[2] in the year 2 ABY.[5]

The Imperial Department of Resources was originally created for Splinter of the Mind's Eye, a Star Wars Legends novel written by Alan Dean Foster[2] and released on February 12, 1978.[6]
