Identichip/Legends

Commonly referred to as an identity chit, identi-tab, identicard, ID card, passport chip or identity tag, identichips were small and could easily be attached to clothing or carried for use by basic card readers.
History
Identi-tabs were usually equipped with a hologram image of the owner. They were another security measure introduced by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine because of the growing risk of a war on Coruscant. Vannix Intelligence was known to use identichips with unique seals. During the reign of the Galactic Empire, all citizens were required to possess some form of identification, a regulation that some, such as Senator Bail Organa found unnecessary and irritating. While attempting to board his consular vessel, Tantive IV, Bail was forced to show his identity tag to a dubious Senate Guard.
Certain identichips bore distinguishing marks granting their owners a degree of legal immunity. Aurra Sing, for example, possessed an identichip with first degree civilian immunity, which was the highest privilege obtainable for a civilian, during her work for Darth Vader in the early Imperial period.
Identicard
Identicards were a form of personalized datacard used during the time of the Yuuzhan Vong War. Contained on the card was a large amount of personal information, including physical and medical data. It was relatively easy to create fake identities, something criminals and scam artists took advantage of during the war with the Yuuzhan Vong.
