Hyperdrive sled

A hyperdrive sled was a device that, in much the same way that the hyperdrive rings were used by Jedi starfighters, allowed a vehicle without a hyperdrive to enter hyperspace.

History

The sleds were most commonly used with CloakShape fighters. Such sleds used R1-series astromech droids, and by 10 ABY cost 15,000 credits.

Militia Leader Klyn Shanga used a beat-up, cobbled-together Dreadnaught-class engine as a makeshift hyperdrive sled when he and his fellow pilots hunted Lando Calrissian. Two dozen starfighters of various make and manufacture were tethered to the engine during transit, with the ships' systems slaved to a nav computer on the central drive engine.
