A hot box was a specialized container that was used by spacers and smugglers to keep specialized cargo warm. The contained was insulated with a heating unit built into the base, and the unit had the ability to keep the interior at a constant temperature from warm to near-boiling. Excess steam was vented by pressure valves, and internal power cells could maintain the interior temperature for up to fifty hours. The cells could be recharged by connecting them to a starship's power generator. Hot boxes could also be used to heat things up, but was not good at cooking food thoroughly. SoroSuub Corporation manufactured the HT-50 Heated Crate during the Galactic Civil War.[1]
