Hangar Bay L44-S3 was a hangar bay on the Death Star's southern hemisphere. It was capable of storing three assault shuttles and at least four landing shuttles. It also had a vehicle lift and two blast doors, two airlock doors, a control room, and several power cell recharge units. Directional markings were also laid on the floor for indication of where to land. It was destroyed during the Battle of Yavin in 0 BBY.
