Guild of Interstellar Merchants
- "I wouldn't join GIM if my life depended on it. And for what, to have your name displayed prominently on some open data facility for any Alignment office to nose through? No thanks."
- ―Roark Slader
The Guild of Interstellar Merchants was an organization headquartered on the planet Entralla.
History
The Guild of Interstellar Merchants, often referred to as GIM, was one of the oldest and most well-known organizations in the Pentastar Alignment. It was tasked with setting transport schedules and transaction fees for its members. If there was any issues with a shipment, the Guild would sent a mediator to resolve the dispute.[1]
The guild maintained an Authorized Shipper List which detailed the merchants and exporters who had agreed to pay the Guild-set prices. Gaining access to the list cost 20,000 credits a year or a percentage of the gross tonnage transported by the user. Being very politically powerful, the Guild could cause the economy of a planet to dry up by ordering all its members to refuse to do any business if they didn't get their way.[1]
