A global positioning system or GPS was a method to calculate a position on a planetary surface. Such systems were in use during the time of the Clone Wars and into the Galactic Civil War.
In 20 BBY, Korkie Kryze and his friends rescued Satine Kryze in a speeder that had a built-in GPS.
