Gammy, a galactic gourmet
"MEET OUR NEWEST STAFF MEMBER, GAMMY! Our new cafeteria chef, Gammy, is the first Gamorrean to achieve the rank of galactic gourmet after spending years training at some of the best restaurants on the planet Lamaredd."
The Padawan Observer[1]

Galactic gourmet was a culinary title that could be earned by experienced chefs. Gammy, a member of the Gamorrean species who were known for their talents in physical combat rather than culinary skills, was one such individual who had earned the title of galactic gourmet.

Description

Galactic gourmet was a special title awarded for culinary talent. One individual known to have achieved it, Gammy, spent years training in restaurants.[1]

History

Gammy, a member of the Gamorrean species[1] which were mainly known as warriors rather than chefs,[2] earned this title by spending several years training at some of the best restaurants on the planet Lamaredd.[1]

Gammy was hired as the cafeteria chef and an instructor in home economics at the Jedi academy at the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant, where Jedi Padawan [sic][3] trained under experienced Jedi in this center of the Force on the Galactic Republic's capital. His title was reported in the school's newspaper, The Padawan Observer, but students found his meals largely inedible.[1]

Behind the scenes

The title of "galactic gourmet" first appeared in Jedi Academy: Return of the Padawan, a 2014 non-canon novel by Jeffrey Brown, which tells the tale of Jedi trainee Roan Novachez through his personal journal.[1] Brown found the idea of a "Gamorrean lunch lady" amusing,[4] Gamorreans being a rather vicious horned warrior species first featured in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi and associated media.[5]
