Frog/Legends
Frogs were green non-sentient amphibians, widely known as good jumpers. They lived in the watery environments of various planets, including Belsavis. Occasionally, entire swarms of frogs rained down from the skies of a planet. Various species, both sentient and non-sentient, were metaphorically referred to as "frogs."
Biology and appearance
Frogs were hopping animals with a short body, protruding eyes,[2] and a long tongue that could flick in and out of their mouth quickly.[3] Frogs lived in large groups gathered in watery areas such as pools and streams. On the world of Belsavis, a cold planet exposed to electrical storms, frogs were a common prey of the mooklas and pittins.[1]
Metaphorically, several creatures were also called "frogs," including the worrts from Tatooine.[3] Some sentient amphibians like the Rybet were also said to be "froglike,"[4] and the Serps from Serphidi were sometime called "frog-mouth."[5]

Behind the scenes
George Lucas refused to ever identify Yoda's species, but has jokingly said Yoda was a frog. In the documentary "From Puppets to Pixels," Lucas called Yoda "the illegitimate child of Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy."[6]
