Energy gate

An energy gate, or energy fence, was a device that employed a static or electromagnetic field to restrict access to high-security areas such as detention centers or power generators, or to areas contaminated by toxins or disease—such as was used to isolate the bioplague that afflicted a sector of the planet Radnor. Energy gates, sometimes composed of energy bars, were generally operated from a distance. Similar to an energy gate in its technology was an energy cage.
