Death Star II control room
- "Command station, this is ST 321. Code clearance blue. We're starting our approach, deactivate the security shield."
- ―Captain Yorr to the Death Star II control room
The second Death Star battlestation featured a control room that was able to remotely control the station's deflector shield and superlaser.
Description
The control room was located along the Equatorial trench of the second Death Star, just off of a small hangar. It featured rows of computer terminals and a duty post that contained the superlaser firing switch, which would beep when it was ready to fire. The room also contained a turbolift, doors to surrounding hallways, and a viewport that looked into the hangar below. Additionally, a targeting screen was located on one of the far walls.[1]
History
- "What is the rotation factor to firing range on the Endor Moon?"
"Point oh two to moon target, sir. Commander, the fleet—"
"Accelerate rotation until moon is in range, and then fire on my mark." - ―Jerjerrod and an aide during the Battle of Endor
In 4 ABY, Lieutenant Endicott, along with several Death Star troopers were stationed in the control room. While piloting Darth Vader's shuttle, Captain Yorr contacted the control room and asked them to lower the Death Star's deflector shield so they could dock in one of the hangars. Upon receiving the shuttle's code transmission, Jad Bean deactivated the deflector shield and told the shuttle that they could safely proceed. Shortly after, Endicott asked Bean to inform the station's commander, Moff Tiaan Jerjerrod that Vader's shuttle arrived.[1]

Not long after, Jerjerrod, Endicott, and several personnel were present in the control room during the Battle of Endor. Upon receiving orders from Emperor Palpatine himself, Jerjerrod authorized gunners in superlaser fire control to begin targeting Rebel ships, while Bean in the main control room fired the superlaser itself at will. The superlaser began firing, destroying the Liberty,[1] the Urjani,[3] and an unidentified MC80 Home One type Star Cruiser. The Imperials were forced stop shooting when, in response to the superlaser, the Rebel fleet engaged the Imperial fleet at point blank range in order to limit the Death Star's ability to destroy any Rebel ships without hurting their own.[1] Eventually, Jerjerrod was given more orders by Palpatine, this time to turn the Death Star's superlaser on Endor itself if the Rebels managed to deactivate the deflector shield. Jerjerrod was reluctant due to the fact that although the Rebels on the moon would be killed in the blast, the Imperials stationed there would be killed as well. He tried to remind the Emperor about the Imperial troops on the moon, but the Emperor repeated his orders and Jerjerrod accepted them.[2]
Eventually, the Rebels did manage to deactivate the shield generator by blowing up the shield generator bunker itself.[1] Upon losing contact with the bunker and confirming the deflector shield was gone, Endicott informed Jerjerrod, who gave the command to begin rotating the station towards the moon. As the station turned, the Imperials in the control room watched as the tide of the battle began turning in favor of the Rebels, whose ships started bombarding the station due to there being no deflector shield to absorb the shots.[2] The control room, along with the station itself crumbled around the Imperials, as several electrical fires started, some areas suffered cabin depressurizations, and computer terminals began blowing up. Several crew members abandoned their posts, frantically looking for a way to escape, while others were either wounded or killed by the results of the bombardment. The remaining crew desperately tried to shoot at Rebel ships, though some were heavily demoralized, working inefficiently.[2]
Jerjerrod gave an aide orders to speed up the station's rotation. At sixty seconds to firing, the aide handed Jerjerrod the firing switch before running off to save himself. At thirty seconds, the Death Star exploded, destroying the control room and killing everyone present, including Jerjerrod.[2]
