A cold crate

Cold crates were chilled containers frequently used to transport cargo. A variety of models and sizes existed, though the typical size was one meter wide by two meters long by one meter deep.

Cold crates maintained a constant low temperature through the use of a cryogenic unit mounted on one end, aided by insulated casing. Each cold crate had sufficient power to maintain a frozen temperature for up to 50 hours.

A common model was the SoroSuub CLD-50 Cryo-Case, which cost around 250 credits. On one occasion, Platt Okeefe smuggled ryll spice in the bottom of a cold crate covered by frella fish. When she was boarded by the Victory'-class Star Destroyer Sentinel, they failed to find the ryll in the crate.
