Chinshassa
- "City was being lived in by my own people! Yes! Was great majesty, and wonderful comfort. But then, one day city die! Bombs fall from ships flown by people called 'Empire', yes? No reason then – no reason now. But bombs turn city to ruins, and turn my people to homeless nomads."
- ―G'hinji Dros
Chinshassa was a city on the planet Shalyvane, which was destroyed by an Imperial bombardment during the Galactic Civil War.[1] A holy city for the Em'liy[2] located close to the venerated site known as the Circle of Kavaan, Chinshassa was suddenly annihilated by the Imperials as part of an operation aimed at the Rebel Alliance—in order to establish cover for an Imperial agent named Shira Brie to infiltrate the Rebels, they gave Brie the backstory that she was a war refugee from Chinshassa after it had been destroyed by Em'liy aggressors.[1]
Although the Em'liy were aware of this deception, they took the destruction of Chinshassa as a great, personal shame, and avoided the city for many years.[2] Brie further reinforced this cover with a visit to Chinshassa along with several Rebel pilots, where they engaged in a firefight with vengeful Em'liy. Some time later, Rebel Commander Luke Skywalker visited Chinshassa to further research Brie after apparently killing her in a friendly fire incident. There, a surviving native set the record straight, revealing the true history of Chinshassa's destruction.[1]
