Cerebus (bulk cruiser)
The Cerebus was a bulk cruiser that formed part of the Imperial Corrupter Task Force. It was commanded by Captain Tains.
After the Rebel defeat at Hoth in 3 ABY, the Cerebus accompanied the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Corrupter in its pursuit of the Defiance Task Force. During this pursuit, the Cerebus was charged with assisting in the deployment of Probe droids across the Outer Rim Territories in an attempt to track down the Rebels. This task ended in failure when a Rebel raid consisting of two A-wings, one of them flown by Ace Azzameen, struck the task force and destroyed the Cerebus's probes just as they launched. Among these probe groups was Diviner.
Behind the scenes
The name Cerebus is based on Cerberus, the three-headed dog who guarded the underworld in Greek mythology, however is misspelled.[1]
The Cerebus does bear a significance to an unknown Rebel ship that participated in the Battle of Endor.[2]
