Carpet
- "Will somebody get this big walking carpet out of my way?"
- ―Leia Organa, referring to Chewbacca
A carpet, or rug[2] was a covering of the floor used throughout the galaxy.
Types of carpet
- Wrodian carpet was a luxurious carpet with rich colors and a fine weave. These could take generations to complete.[3]
- Flex-carpet was developed shortly after the Battle of Endor. It was used in upscale residences, and had an internal heating system.[4]
- Foam-carpet was not technically carpet, but it was an inexpensive replacement which could be sprayed directly onto the floor to create a soft cushion.[5]
The planet Harswee, a Mandalorian world located in the Mandalore sector, was known for luxurious loom-woven rugs. The Coronet, the personal starliner of Duchess Satine Kryze of the New Mandalorians, made extensive use of Harswee carpeting.[7] The Mandalorian leader known as Mandalore the Binder hailed from Harswee, where he grew up as the son of one of the world's rug weavers.[8]
Residences of Tatooine were known to create handwoven carpets.[9]
Common phrases
- "These rugs really tie the room together."
- ―Meatlump King
Wookiees were often derogatorily referred to as "carpet-bags" during the Clone Wars. They were also referred to as "walking carpets" under a similarly derogatory manner, notably being used towards the Wookiee Chewbacca.[1][10]
"Red carpet" was a slang term used by some members of the Rebel Alliance to describe a large quantity of explosives.[11]
