"Tell Han Solo I send my love."
―Capri Otti, to the Human farmhand[1]

Capri Otti was a female individual who worked as a courier on the planet Tatooine during the reign of the Galactic Empire. In 0 BBY, Otti piloted a loaded messenger vehicle through the city Mos Eisley and she encountered a Human farmhand who had became stranded in the city after his friend Luke Skywalker had left Tatooine with the smuggler Han Solo, an acquaintance of Otti, aboard the freighter Millennium Falcon. While she didn't have room in her vehicle to take the boy as a passenger, she agreed to pass a message onto his parents—who operated a moisture farm—and to bring back any money that they decided to send to their lost son. Otti spoke with the boy's parents and she returned to Mos Eisley several days later, to pass on a note from them to the farmhand in which they gave their son consent to leave Tatooine.

After reading the note the Human determined to depart Tatooine, to seek out his friend Skywalker, and Otti helped the boy to find a freighter captain who would be willing to transport him to the planet Alderaan. While he waited for the starship to be prepared for him, Otti bought the Human a soda in Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina, then left to get back to her job.

Behind the scenes

Capri Otti was created by Christopher Golden and she appeared in the 1998 young readers book Choose Your Own Star Wars Adventure: A New Hope. Her name is similar to that of Diana Capriotti, a writer who was acknowledged by Golden in the books preface. The novel is told from the perspective of the farmhand that Otti encounters and has multiple endings, with the choices of the reader determining some of the actions of the farmhand. When Otti presents the boy the note from his parents, the reader has a choice as to whether the Human decides to leave Tatooine or to return home. If the reader chooses for him to return home, Otti helps the boy to find someone who can give him a lift back to his parents' farm.
