Candy was a foodstuff. Young children were fond of candy. The Wookiee holiday of Life Day often had candy being distributed by Saun Dann, although this ended up stolen by Jawas before they could reach their destination, and were in turn taken by the portly stormtrooper TK-555 who ate a lot of it before ultimately giving the candy to a spacer in exchange for the latter's silence to his superiors due to guilt upon learning it was meant to be delivered to poor children.[source?]
Candy was also distributed during the holidays Empire Day and Remembrance Day, in the form of Gracious Government Mix and Favorites of the Force, respectively.[source?]
