Camera/Legends
A camera was a type of device that captured light and processed it to produce a photograph, a two-dimensional representation of a specific event, which could be viewed electronically or in a hard copy format. Some cameras included a flash feature that helped add illumination to better view its subject. Small, handheld cameras were used by tourists to record their travels.
"Camera" was also used as a generic term for any device used to capture images, including holograms and video footage.
History
Approximately one year before the Battle of Yavin, a passenger of the Star Tours interstellar traveling agency carried a camera inside their luggage. It was eventually discovered by scanners used by the security check-in droid G2-9T, and mistaken for a type of alien weapon. The camera then activated, causing the droid to panic and then tell the scanner to destroy it. After learning that the device was a "camera," he was confused as to what it was as well as slightly irritated.[1]
In the pre-boarding video for the Star Tours' StarSpeeder 1000 around the same time, a Human child also used a camera with the flash option activated at a Mon Calamari and Wookiee passenger, disorienting them, resulting in his mother scolding him.[1] A similar incident years later was recorded in a safety video for Star Tours' StarSpeeder 3000s.[2]
Ree-Yees was known to use custom made three-eyed camera. He enjoyed visiting other planets via Star Tours and often used the camera to take pictures, despite flash photography not being allowed.[3][4]
