CC-7700 frigate/Legends
The CC-7700 frigate was an older warship from the CC-series used in the Galactic Civil War.
Characteristics
The warship was based on its predecessor, the Detainer CC-2200 interdictor cruiser. A product of the Corellian Engineering Corporation, it was described as an "older sibling" of the Corellian gunship. The CC-7700 was designed to serve as a platform for a gravity well projector, and was only lightly armed.
The ships had a brig.[2]
History
CC-7700s were present at the Battle of Mindor in 5 ABY.[1] Shortly after the Black Fleet Crisis, General Garm Bel Iblis used a pair of CC-7700 frigates in an attempt to capture Admiral Daala. Daala was able to escape after desperately ramming her flagship, Scylla, into one of the frigates. However, this action severely damaged Scylla's navigational systems, and Daala's jump into hyperspace was a blind one.[source?] As of 44 ABY, at least one such frigate, the Fireborn, was part of the Galactic Alliance Navy. It was destroyed in an act of sabotage.[2]
Behind the scenes
The CC-7700 frigate was one of several new ships created for the PC game Star Wars: Rebellion. Specifically, the CC-7700 was included to counter the Imperial Immobilizer 418 cruiser. Besides the Bulwark-class battle cruiser and Dauntless-class heavy cruiser, the CC-7700 is the only new ship class from the game to be mentioned in other Expanded Universe sources.
The use of these ships against Admiral Daala was described in the reference book The New Essential Guide to Characters, having been first mentioned in The Essential Chronology.
