Blue Four was the call sign of the fourth member of Blue Squadron. There were a number of starfighter squadrons with this name, and several pilots went by the call sign Blue Four.

History

During the Clone Wars, Blue Four was the call sign of clone trooper pilot Kickback, one of his squadron's few members to survive the Battle of Ryloth.[1]

Several Rebel Alliance X-wing fighter pilots from Blue Squadron also flew under the call sign Blue Four, including Thurlow Harris at the Battle of Yavin,[2] Gemmer Sojan during the evacuation of Hoth,[4] and Ace Azzameen while protecting the CR90 corvette Razor.[5]

In 7 ABY,[6] a New Republic pilot with the call sign Blue Four was a member of General Edor Crespin's A-wing squadron stationed at Folor Base. During the base's evacuation, "Blue Four" was separated from a squadronmate using the call sign Blue Three, and mistakenly believed that "Blue Three" had been killed in battle.[3]

In 8 ABY,[6] Alexandra Winger experienced a recurring dream in which she flew an X-wing as Blue Four.[7] In 12 ABY,[6] after Winger had joined the New Republic, Blue Four was the call sign of her wingman, Chaz Hunter.[8]

Behind the scenes

The novelization of A New Hope identifies Jek Tono Porkins, the film's Red Six,[9] as Blue Four,[10] while the comic adaptation gives the call sign to John D. Branon,[11] who is Red Four in the final film.[9]
