Battle squadron

A battle squadron was a formation of the Imperial Navy commanded by an admiral. The battle squadron was centered on a Star Destroyer, with two attack lines and a pursuit line for an average of eighteen ships. In general terms, the three lines mattered little; it was the Star Destroyer that was the most important part of the squadron. Battle squadrons were deployed to suppress star systems or run down an enemy force. The deployment of a battle squadron showed that the Navy considered the mission to be one of utmost importance.

History

The 2391st Battle Squadron fought against the Kalindan System Defense Force and the Kalindan Deep Space Fleet during the Battle of Kalinda. But was ultimately forced into retreat.
