Battle between Rogue Squadron and Ysanne Isard's forces
In the year 5 ABY, Soontir Fel helped the New Republic's Rogue Squadron win a critical battle against the forces of Ysanne Isard's Galactic Empire. Isard became enraged and implemented a plan to get rid of Fel, and approximately halfway through 5 ABY, she captured Fel and had him shipped off to Grand Admiral Thrawn on the planet Nirauan.
Behind the scenes
Soontir Fel's entry in 2002's The New Essential Guide to Characters states that Rogue Squadron helped him search for his wife for nearly seven months before he located her, and that the battle against Isard's forces happened "a few months later," all before Isard hatched a plan to capture Fel that came to fruition in approximately 5.5 ABY.
However, the 2007 release of Star Wars Omnibus: X-Wing Rogue Squadron Volume 3 retconned the date of Fel's defection to the New Republic to nine months after the Battle of Endor, or 4.75 ABY. Nearly seven months after that would be almost four months into 5 ABY, and "a few months later" would date the battle between the Rogues and Isard at later than 5.5 ABY.
Since Wedge Antilles's entry in The New Essential Guide to Characters mentions that ~5.5 ABY was the date that Rogue Squadron temporarily disbanded, this article assumes that the battle between the Rogues and Isard happened before 5.5 ABY, and that one or both of the "nearly seven months" or "a few months later" statistics were rendered erroneous by the 2007 retcon.
