A sector council administered the Barsa sector during the time of the Galactic Republic. When local sector observers discovered that the Ubese species from the planet Uba IV was manufacturing weapons that had been banned since the formation of the Republic, the sector council decided to conduct a preemptive strike to prevent the Ubese from becoming a major threat. However, the orbital strike that followed set off many of the Ubese large-scale tactical weapons, ravaging several planets in the Uba system.
