- "Most people have forgotten that 'droid' is short for 'android,' meaning manlike."
- ―Lando Calrissian, complaining how little Vuffi Raa resembled a human
Android was a term that meant manlike. The word droid was short for android.[1] However, the term later became synonymous with cyborg, an organic being with body parts replaced by artificial ones, particularly those who were non-human.[2] Like droids, androids were considered property and could be bought and sold.[3]
