Adega, a planet located in the Moddell sector, was where the earliest lightsaber crystals came from. The three most common varieties were still referred to as Adegan crystals even after the planet Ilum succeeded Adega as the crystals' primary source.

Behind the scenes

The planet Adega first appeared as one of 200 playable worlds in the 1998 PC game Star Wars: Rebellion. The Rebellion in-game encyclopedia describes Adega as once being "the site of an ancient Jedi stronghold," and further identified the planet as being "the main source of Ilum crystals." However, by 1998 there was no planet named Adega in Star Wars canon, and the Rebellion's description of Adega most closely resembled that of the aforementioned Ilum, a planet first mentioned in the Dark Empire endnotes as the source of Adegan crystals.
