Absit

Absit was a planet located in the Absit system, a part of the Outer Rim Territories' Tunka sector. It was the homeworld of the sentient humanoid species known as the Yatir.

During the Galactic Civil War, the Yatir were sympathetic to the Rebel Alliance. At some point before the Battle of Hoth of 3 ABY, the Galactic Empire finally subjugated Absit and the Yatir, with the Imperial Army vanguard armor regiment known as the Imperial Hammers Elite Armor Unit being instrumental in the operation. The Empire subsequently used the native population of Absit for slave labor. Years later, Captain Zgorth'sth of the New Republic noted the Imperial subjugation of Absit in a threat assessment report focusing on various special units.

Behind the scenes

Absit was first mentioned in the 1989 Imperial Sourcebook, written by Greg Gorden and published by West End Games for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Absit system, and therefore the planet itself, in grid square I-19, although the system was also erroneously placed in grid square J-13 as part of the Inner Rim in the Appendix section of the book.

"Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder Where We Are," a 1990 roleplaying game source article published in Voyages SF 13, placed the Absit system—as well as the Dalchon, Mediraan, "Ryluth" (a misspelling of the Ryloth system), Tatoo, and Yavin systems—in a sector named the "Outer Rim Territory." Since the article was released outside of the Lucas Licensing process, its canonicity within the Star Wars Legends continuity was never confirmed, and the StarWars.com Online Companion to The Essential Atlas has since placed all of those star systems save Mediraan in sectors other than the Absit system's Tunka sector.
