Attack on the Shrike

During the Galactic Civil War between the Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic, the B-wing starfighter was first used to destroy a frigate when the Rebels 'attacked the Nebulon-B frigate Shrike.

The battle

The Rebels entered the system to engage the Nebulon-B frigate Shrike and the frigate deployed its fighters. Red Squadron led the attack against the Imperial frigate, while Gold Squadron provided escort. The Rebels believed that the Imperial frigate would try to leave the area by racing towards a Nav Buoy protected by a small minefield.

A short time later, a detachment from the local Imperial forces arrived to assist the frigate. The detachment consisted of CR90 corvettes and assault gunboats but it was not enough to defeat the Rebels.
