The Xan were a sentient species indigenous to Algara II.

Biology and appearance

A Xan

The Xan were sentient mammalian bipedal humanoids indigenous to Algara II. They had a lifespan of 80 standard years, and sported dark eyes and a long body beneath a large, bulbous head,[1] with skin colored green, yellow, or pink. Five slender fingers protruded from the ends of their arms.[1]

They could not tolerate temperatures below zero degrees Standard. If temperatures were to have fallen below zero yet above minus ten degrees Standard, a Xan would have fallen into a deep sleep; temperatures below this was lethal to Xan.[1]

Behind the scenes

A Xan-like alien in Republic 79

The Xan species was first mentioned and depicted in the 1992 book Planets of the Galaxy, Volume Two, which was written by John Terra.[3] The comic book Republic 79 pictures an alien similar in appearance to a Xan, although the figure's species is not identified.[4]
