Urce/Legends
Urce was a Mid Rim planet located in the Lesser Plooriod Cluster. A member of the Galactic Republic since at least the Clone Wars, during the Galactic Civil War Urce served the Galactic Empire as a regional seat of power and was the site of the palace of High Inquisitor Mox Slosin. In 12 ABY, the Imperial Remnant was victorious over the New Republic at a confrontation at Urce.
Description
Urce was a terrestrial[4] planet[3] located in the Urce system.[2] It was a part of Urce Space, which was located in the Lesser Plooriod Cluster[3] and constituted a part of the New Territories portion of the Mid Rim.[2] Between approximately 12,000 BBY and 11,000 BBY, Urce was still considered a part of the ill-explored Wild Space.[1]
History

The area of Wild Space in which Urce was situated between 12,000 BBY and 11,000 BBY was largely targeted in 11,884 BBY by the Galactic Republic, when it carried out its Great Northern Crusade against Ithorians, Zabraks, and other species inhabiting the region.[1] Space surrounding Urce was only explored between 3000 BBY and 1000 BBY. By the time the Clone Wars of 22 BBY–19 BBY were fought, Urce was situated within Republic borders,[2] and the Republic's Ninth Sector Army was charged with engaging the military forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems in the planet's vicinity during the first campaigns of that conflict.[1]
Urce was situated within the territory controlled by the Galactic Empire by 17 BBY.[1] At some point following the successful Imperial subjugation[6] of the Fitca system[7] in Urce Space[8] by 2 ABY,[9] the Imperial High Inquisitor Mox Slosin was transferred from the Fitca system to Urce.[6] By 12 ABY, Urce was a part of the New Republic. That year, forces of the Imperial Remnant were victorious over the New Republic at a confrontation there.[1] As part of their invasion of the galaxy, at some point by 26 ABY, the extra-galactic Yuuzhan Vong gained control over the Urce system, and it remained the invaders' possession by 27 ABY.[2]
Inhabitants
Urce was the capital of its surrounding space during the Galactic Civil War and served as a seat of Imperial power at the time.[3] Around 25 ABY, the population of the Urce system numbered between one and ten billion.[2]
Locations
During the Galactic Civil War, Urce was the site of a palace used by the Imperial High Inquisitor Mox Slosin. The Inquisitor terrorized the Lesser Plooriod Cluster from the palace but also spent much of his time[4] actively traveling along the hyperlanes of the cluster aboard his light cruiser, the Ironhand, in search of Rebel Alliance cells operating in the area.[6] By 12 ABY, a HoloNet relay was also situated at Urce.[1]
Behind the scenes

Urce was first mentioned in Alliance Intelligence Reports, a 1995 sourcebook for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[6] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Urce system, and therefore the planet itself, in grid square L-6.[2]
The entry for Urce in the 2008 The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia introduced an apparent contradiction regarding the planet's status. The entry claims that Urce was "the seat of Imperial power at the height of the New Order,"[3] which contrasts with other Star Wars sources agreeing that the Core Worlds planet Coruscant was instead the capital of the Galactic Empire, and indeed the entire galaxy, at that time. This article therefore the use of the definite article "the" in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia entry as erroneous.[10][5][11]
