The title of this article is conjectural.

Although this article is based on official information from the Star Wars Legends continuity, the actual name of this subject is pure conjecture.

A male wampa attacked Luke Skywalker on the Lanteel Glacier on the planet Hoth in 3 ABY, defeating him in one blow by knocking him out and killing his tauntaun. He then unceremoniously dragged the unconscious Luke to his cave.

Behind the scenes

While it is often believed that the wampa that attacked Luke when he was riding his tauntaun is the same wampa in the ice cave, it is not. The book Inside the Worlds of Star Wars Trilogy labels the events before and during the Battle of Hoth and clearly describes both a male and female wampa; the latter identified as One-Arm, portrayed by ILM employee Howie Weed during filming of The Empire Strikes Back (Special Edition). It is one of the few opponents Luke has lost to and not won a rematch against.
