This aged Human male controller served the Alliance to Restore the Republic at Echo Base on the planet Hoth in 3 ABY. He fought during the Battle of Hoth against the Galactic Empire from the base's command center, and was one of two final controllers still present at their posts, including Toryn Farr, when Princess Leia Organa issued the formal order for all Rebel forces on the battlefield to disengage and begin the final retreat from Hoth.^[1]

Behind the scenes

The major first appeared as an unnamed extra in Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back, portrayed by American actor Jerry Harte, who was credited as the "Head Controller" at Echo Base.^[1] The Star Wars Insider 74 article Who's Who in Echo Base, states that Jerry Harte played Echo Base controller Romas Navander, When In fact, the Navander role was portrayed by actor Burnell Tucker.^[1]
