This Jedi book was located in the Hall of Knowledge of Great Jedi Library on the planet Ossus.[3] It was written in an arcane[2] classical Ossan language,[4] with second chapter being authored by a Jedi Master Thon.[2] It described Force abilities, including battle meditation.[3] It also contained the stories of Arca Jeth of Arkania and Jedi Knight Nomi Sunrider.[4]
This book was discovered by Luke Skywalker and Jem Ysanna in the subterranean ruins of Great Jedi Library on Ossus in 10 ABY.[3] In 11 ABY on the course to the planet Onderon, Leia Organa Solo, assisted by C-3PO and Vima-Da-Boda in translation of the book, learned ancient art of the battle meditation.[4]
Overview
The book was written in an arcane[2] classical Ossan language,[4] and described Force abilities, including battle meditation.[3] It also contained the stories of Arca Jeth of Arkania, who freed Onderon during the Beast Wars, and of Jedi Knight Nomi Sunrider, who learned battle meditation from Arca and two other masters.[4]

Why do scholars use the outcome of battles to indicate significant moments in history? Is not every moment significant in some way? Why do analysts collect data about wars, counting the dead and wounded, and surveying the structures that survive? Do they really believe that if they collate such information, others will better understand why such events take place, and future wars might be prevented? Then why—even now, as I write this—are so-called intelligent beings dominating and slaughtering others? Why are weapons still readied before peace is considered? Why are so many prepared to kill to achieve power, claim property, or prove that their gods are true? The answer is simple: beings fight because they can, and sometimes because they must; sometimes by choice, but not always. So long as there is life, there will be wars. Even the smallest insects can have their armies. It is not the way of the Jedi to start wars. It is the way of the Jedi to end wars, and to be aware that this duty is one that never ends. Jedi battle meditation requires more from a Jedi than other disciplines. It can be most exhausting, and becomes even more challenging with the arrival of unexpected reinforcements for the opposition. But when it works, it works wonders. If a Jedi's talent is measured by the ability to end battles without activating a lightsaber, then Jedi battle meditation must be counted among the most worthy of skills. | |
