Although this article is based on official information from the Star Wars Legends continuity, the actual name of this subject is pure conjecture.

The terrain of the Covallon homeworld included plains. The Covallon themselves evolved from a predator species that roamed the plains, and they retained certain characteristics due to this origin. Covallon society on their homeworld developed at an early information technology level. Covallon were only rarely seen away from their homeworld and even when they were seen abroad in the galaxy, many humanoid species did not realize they were intelligent.
